In Our Saviour Catholic School, we use the Sadlier Religion Series, “We Believe”. First Grade, focuses on “God Loves Us”. Our studies in Religion consist of Jesus teaching us about God’s love and how to follow Him. The children learn the importance of belonging to our parish, celebrating and living our faith.
We start each morning with our community prayer in the courtyard. We invite all family, staff, and students to join together and unite as one. Our First-Graders feel and appreciate the strong bond we share together with their parents. We encourage all parents to be involved with their child's Catholic education.
The children are taught the power of prayer in their daily lives. Each day a child is given an opportunity to request their own prayer intention. We learn that we pray to praise God, love Him, thank Him, and ask for His guidance. Our first graders focus on living by The Golden Rule. “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.”
During the school year, our students attend school prayer services, and weekly Mass. Our First Grade class will have the opportunity for being the leaders of a prayer service. Later in the school year, they will be responsible for a class Mass.
